Positive Life Kenya works to break the cycle of poverty by promoting active participation of communities through education and advocacy to build a healthy environment for children to thrive and create lasting change.
To see healthy and empowered communities living with hope and equal opportunities.
Positive Life Kenya is a Non-Governmental Organization that supports marginalized communities in Machakos County. We also support other areas, such as Busia, Kajiado, and Nairobi.
Our organization has become the only safe haven for many families in the community. By providing them with health care, education, income-generating programs, rehabilitation, and counseling. We focus on making them healthier, empowered, happier, and more independent.
Over the years, our work has evolved from HIV issues to a more holistic approach to support and center our work around the child. We envision a better future for them, and we believe this work starts with parents, caregivers, and the communities where children belong.
Initially named Living Positive Mlolongo, our organization started as a small Community-Based Organization (CBO) in 2010 in Mlolongo, Kenya. The founder was doing social work in hospitals and neighborhoods in Mlolongo when she became aware of the challenges in service delivery and support for HIV-positive individuals as well as their children.
Due to the demand for additional services in other areas outside of Mlolongo, in 2015, we obtained official status as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the new name: Positive Life Kenya. This change allows us to obtain a tax exemption status and continue expanding our efforts to reach out to as many families as possible.
Today, we serve more than 3,000 people in eight different slums and informal settlements in Machakos County. We also support the outreach efforts in other areas in Western Kenya.
