Children and youth are among the most vulnerable groups affected by poverty, broken family systems, and health crises such as HIV/AIDS. In Kenya, nearly half the population is under 18 and over 75% of children face at least one deprivation of their rights, including limited access to education, healthcare, safe water, and nutrition.
At Positive Life Kenya, we believe that every child should grow up in a safe, loving, and
supportive family and community environment. We place children at the center of our
work—while also strengthening the families and communities around them. Through education, mentorship, advocacy, and protection, we empower children and youth to thrive, realize their rights, and shape brighter futures.
We provide education and care through our two schools—New Hope Tumaini School and Kiotani School Lukenya—while also supporting learners in primary schools, high schools,
universities, and vocational training institutions. We create scholarship opportunities through pooled funding to ensure that more children and youth access quality education.
We equip children and youth with knowledge and skills to make responsible, healthy choices about their lives. This includes empowering them on reproductive health, HIV prevention,
gender-based violence, drug abuse, and personal growth, while also nurturing their goals and
dreams.
We work with adolescents and youth to help them realize their rights by giving them a voice and a platform to engage with leaders. Together with families, communities, local organizations, and government partners, we design and deliver programs that respond to the needs of the most vulnerable children and youth.
We strengthen family and community-based systems to provide safe, nurturing environments for children. PLK reinforces both formal and informal child protection mechanisms to keep children safe from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. We also support parents and caregivers with skills to raise their children with love and without violence.
